A new developed Mg alloy which is corrosion resistance in high NaCl content solution has been developed by ARTA-Mag researchers.
The alloy is the result of several years of international research. This alloy shows a corrosion rate less than ultra-purity Mg (0.25 mm/y), in various processing conditions such as cast, roll, extrusion, severe plastic deformation and heat treatment. The alloy even shows a high yield strength of 300MPa which is even higher than structural steel (which are 5 times heavier than Mg alloys).
